How to Take the Best Last-Minute Holiday Family Photo

Holiday photos are an excellent way to capture memories, but finding time is another challenge. With a few simple tricks, you can get beautiful shots at the last minute and have fun in the process.

  • Pick a Simple Background: Set the scene in a well-lit room or a festive outdoor spot. Avoid busy backgrounds that distract from the focus, especially if you wear patterned attire. For example, outdoor backgrounds - a Christmas tree farm are always a classic choice!

  • Coordinate Outfits: Choose complementary colors rather than matching outfits. For festive flair, add a pop of holiday color, like red or green, to go with neutral outfits.

  • Use Natural Light: Position your family facing a window or set up outdoors to make the most of natural light. This avoids harsh shadows and adds warmth.

  • Try Posed and Candid Shots: Start with a posed photo, then encourage some playful moments for candid shots. This keeps the session fun and authentic—you never know what gem you’ll capture!

  • Use a Tripod: If no one can take a picture, use a tripod or a phone stand. Set a timer for hands-free shooting.
    Wrap-up:

Even if you’re short on time, you can take memorable holiday photos in no time! Just remember to have fun and enjoy the time with your family.
